Hard-won ChromeOS Google Drive knowledgeI keep having to rediscover this.
My Google Drive will become mounted read-only, for some reason. Try and look at it in the Files app, it shows up that way. Possibly related to disk space being eaten up by virtual memory from memory leaks. Chrome is a worse memory pig all the time.
I keep running into this because Caret will be unable to save a file to the mounted Drive. And unable to open files, something about the system's access to the dialog box. And on being closed and reopened, unable to continue restoring open files past the first one that was on Drive instead of in Downloads.
Unfortunately this specific manifestation is about to stop being a problem, because Google in their infinite wisdom have decided my text editor app shouldn't work any more. Next time I restart -- poof, gone. Farts to you, Google.
Anyway. Lots of advice on the Interwebs about "turn off Drive in your settings, then turn in back on." What I have to do is turn it off, log out, possibly reboot entirely, log back in, turn it on. That restores Drive to read/write.
